The History of Our Farm and Its Name . . .

The original Patchwork Farm was built in 1985, using recycled lumber from a torn down greenhouse. Janet, fresh out of college and with a very practical college degree in History, lived on site, in a newly constructed log home.

We thought “Patchwork Farm” was the perfect name for our fledgling business. Several moves and many years later (2003), the Sherrill family built a beautiful new home for the program. We considered changing the name of Patchwork Farm to more accurately reflect our new sophisticated image. “Market Research” (we kicked the idea around with our clients and friends in the horse business) indicated a strong loyalty toward our original name: Patchwork Farm was here to stay!

After 22 years, Janet and Lauren have bought the permanent Patchwork Farm! Patchwork Farm moved and leased several times after leaving the original barn, including a 12 year stent at "Thomas Road". It was very hard to leave Thomas Road but with a lot of fond memories we moved in May 2014 to our very own facility!
